This is a figure that has appeared before in dreams, and always I am paralyzed with fear so that I cannot even cry out.

Yesterday I painted a picture called "Le Revenant," with just such a figure, in a robe that covered the head and only a black outline where the face would be.

Later, Huncke and Garver in the house. There are suitcases scattered about in the master bedroom where Mother and Dad slept. The suitcases are bound in gold, locks and hasps and straps of gold chain.

I give Huncke ten dollars in some sort of dubious currency.

Walking along a narrow street in Marrakech with Brion Gysin. The street is covered overhead, as many streets in Morocco are. There is snow in the street, about a foot deep, but it doesn't seem cold. I don't have my Gap jacket, in which I habitually carry a knife and tear gas. Don't even have my cane. However, I don't feel in danger of attack.

We are going to a meeting of some sort. Ahead of me I can see white latticework. To the right, a house back from the street. Come to a room on the right. It is a small room, about twenty by twenty, and looks like a photographic studio. The walls are paneled in some gray metal. There is a booth about six feet high, covered by a yellow cloth. A young Arab is trying to peek under the cloth. There are, I think, four people in the room when we arrive. Our meeting is in a room that opens from this room, about the same size.
